Porn Industry Wants A Bailout - No, this is not a joke

Banks, automakers and the porn industry. They don't sound like they go together, but they will if some leaders in the adult entertainment business can lobby Congress for a federal bailout.
CNN is reporting that Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis plan to ask Congress for $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry.

It sounds like a spoof and not a serious request, but they do plan to deliver the request to their congressmen and Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson. Both do, though, admit that the
porn industry isn't in financial danger with DVD sales slipping but Web traffic growing.

"The take here is that everyone and their mother want to be bailed out from the banks to the Big Three," Flynt spokesman Owen Moogan told CNN. "The porn industry has been hurt by the downturn like everyone else and they are going to ask for the $5 billion. Is it the most serious thing in the world? Is it going to make the lives of Americans better if it happens? It is not for them to decide."

Francis said in a statement that "the U.S. government should actively support the adult industry's survival and growth, just as it feels the need to support any other industry cherished by the American people."

It sounds more like Flynt and Francis are looking for some attention. Maybe they should stick to their own businesses.
